Nothing quite like a nice Convertible Beetle...especially a fairly early
one.
This California based 1962 model is a very good "driver quality" example
that appears
very solid and ready to roll.
Nice blue paint color and the white interior and top...attractive indeed.
Registered with California "Year of Manufacture Plates" which give it a nice
period look.
The Empi 5 spoke wheels hop it up a little...might be nice with stock wheels
and whitewalls too
this is a car that would be very easy to personalize and play with.
The car sits at stock height, no modifications there.
Dash is clean and un-cut...nice to see the original steering wheel and radio
in place.
Seat upholstery looks to be in decent shape.
A little warpage to the door panels, but otherwise looking good.
Front panels are the same.
Battery shut off switch with key under the back seat for security and storage.
Not show car stuff but certainly presentable and clean.
Rubber seals all look decent.
Seat belts are recent and have the Wolfsburg crest buckles.
A little paint wear at the pinch edge by the carpet...but the door jams look
solid.
Carpet in the back area is good.
Top boot looks nice and clean.
Top down in the California sun...fly out and drive this one around on your
winter vacation and then ship it home!
Under the front hood looks reasonably clean.
Spare tire well is solid.
Apron looks good.
Glove box has the proper convertible only locking latch.
Headliner and visors look to be in nice shape.
The proper convertible mirror assembly looks nice.
Headliner in good condition.
Tow bar attachments have been bolted to the front bumper.
I would pull these off pretty quick but would expect some markings on the
bumper blade below.
Chassis looks very solid on this one...certainly not show detailed or anything
but Im not seeing any rust issues in these photos which is awesome for a
convertible!
Tires are excellent.
A couple small paint chips here and there.
Support rails look great!!
Nice!
Camber compensator underneath is a nice addition to improve handling.
Underside of the engine looks pretty clean.
The engine has roughly 8000 miles since a rebuild...so it is quite fresh
still.
The engine is a 1641cc dual port with 12 volt electrics.
Good runner...slightly cold blooded in the mornings.
Empi 5 spokes polished finish.
Top is in decent shape...no holes or damage, a couple of age related marks
here and there, but that is about it.
Body looks smooth and straight.
Original owners manual included.
In closing this really looks like a decent car.
It is totally useable as it is and it would be a fun car to change up a little
here and there and either
go towards the stock restored look, or lower and go custom with it...or just
leave it alone and have fun!!
Priced very reasonably for an early 60's Convertible!!
