1958 Beetle Sedan Euro Ragtop For Sale

This Florida based Beetle is really a slick ride.
First of all..look at it...damn she is pretty isn't she?
Great colors, great stance and loaded with neat details and accessories.

The car is a European model that was purchased in Germany by a US serviceman and eventually
landed in Ohio. Its interesting though that the birth certificate from Wolfsburg shows a destination
of New York. How a Euro model slipped through for US delivery is odd, but perhaps the serviceman had something to do with that.
Production date is August 3rd 1957, so this is one of the very first of the "square window" models.

The color is called Light Bronze (L 245) and it is original to this car.
It was originally delivered as a hardtop model and somewhere along the line an original Golde sunroof was added.

Pop out quarter windows and semephore signals.
You can also see the Albert swan neck mirrors in this shot.
Nice smooth reflection down the side as well.

The paint is not flawless, the car has been driven and enjoyed.
The seller is real straight up about it and sent images with the little chips and scratches circled.

A little ding in the fender here.

A few stone chips on the hood.
The Volkswagen script emblem and Wolfsburg crest are present and in great shape.

Car is clean in the fender wells, excellent wheels and tires.
Nice fit and finish to the body panels.

Interior is done in the European cloth and in the original stitch patterns and such.
Seats are pretty slick here, at first glance they look like standard Beetle low back seats,
but check out the recliner...these are actually Scat seats done in the original German cloth!

The Scat seats give you a bit more support than the factory seats as the base and back cup your body
better than the flat stock seats. The attach to the factory rails and in this original material still have a classic look to them.

Door panels look great, carpet is nice, under dash parcel tray is great

Glove box

Dah looks gorgeous and with the Banjo steering wheel with Golden Lady horn push and matching
knobs it really looks classy. The chrome tach is the only interior hint that out back is more than a stock 36hp.

Speedometer is superb.

Golde sunroof handle, correct mohair headliner

Slick upgraded roller pedal.

Rear seat looks great.

Gotta love that big sunroof.

Under the front hood is detailed nicely.
A tailored spill cloth protects the tank from fuel drips when filling.

Looking down in the spare tire well it does look like the front end has bottomed out a couple times.
With the spare in place you dont see it, but the wrinkles are there.

Chassis is very solid and sound, no rust issues from what I can see here.

Recently installed AirKewld narrowed front beam with adjusters and shock towers.

AirKewld big bad disc brakes up front!

Vintage Speed stainless exhaust system.

The engine is beautiful and features the best of the best when it comes to the details.
It has a bit of a Porsche vibe to it with the oil filter and dual carbs.

here are some of the highlights.
AS41 Case, bored 040 over standard thrust, dual relief, dog house cooler.
DPR 69mm counter-weighted crank and reconditioned rods
Lightened 8 dowel flywheel
Cima 90.5 pistons and cylinders, Scat C35 camshaft, lightweight rockers and bolt on cam gear.
Melling HD oil pump, Porsche 356 oil filter used as a breather system.
New heads with 40 X 35.5mm stainless valves, HD single springs, chromoloy retainers
Scat HD rocker arms and shafts with swivel feet adjusters.
Kadron carbs with linkage system from Low Bugget. Chromed Porsche 356 air cleaners.
Serpantine belt system, 12 volt electrics with alternator.
And all detailed up pretty!

Recent valve adjustment and service...runs great and is ready for play!

The current owner has had the car for about 5 years or so and he has put a fair bit of money into making it the best it can be.
The car was bought through our website in 2011.
The additions the owner has made to it really have made it into something special.
Very unique and cool ride.

Great car inside and out and mechanically as well.
Its not a flawless trailer queen, but is definitely a car you can be proud of.
