1974 VW Thing For Sale

This Southern California based 1974 Type 181 "THING" is a pretty impressive machine.
Beautifully restored and tastefully modified to create a very sweet ride for the summer of your dreams.

Top up with side curtains fitted, or top down with the wind flawing through your hair
there are very few vehicles with the versatility and fun factor as a Thing!

This one has been really nicely done with overall that classic stock appearance but with a big boost
in horsepower and some really nice cosmetic changes that make it even cooler.

The custom tube bumpers, wide aluminum wheels under wider than stock fenders
yet not lifted all crazy high or painted a non factory color. I think this is the best of both worlds.

Super clean from all angles!

The hood rack with finished rub strips looks super cool.
Low profile LED light bar on the bumper.

Tags and decals are all in place.

Trunk is exceptionally clean and well detailed.

Side curtains with sliding windows

Matching top boot.

O love love love those fat aluminum wheels!

Windshield folds down, doors come off, the ultimate in open air motoring.

Great details inside such as the wood "duck boards" for the floor and rear luggage area.

Engine is a low mileage rebuilt performance unit with 1915cc, Weber carbs, hex bar linkage, Panchito heads,
performance distributor, electric fuel pump, dog house oil cooler, aluminum crank pulley
and a whole lot more. Runs strong and mechanically ready for play time.

The underside is all clean and solid.
Disc front brakes are a nice upgrade as well.

Disc brakes out back as well!!

Ceramic coated header exhaust with heater boxes.
Deep oil sump and external oil cooler.

Exhaust is by A1 in California, extremely high quality.

New shocks, strong trans, axle boots look good and everything is clean and dry underneath

One spot of repair done to the floorpan but done very cleanly and super solid.

The rest looks fantastic.

Adjustable front beam

Interior is super clean!

Nice clean and simple dashboard.

Love those wood floorboards, and underneath those are the correct perforated rubber mats.

Seats are excellent, everything very cleanly done and well kept.

GT steering wheel and it looks like a Gene Berg shifter peeking out?

Super clean!

Here you can see the wider than stock fenders and that killer low profile light bar.
This is a super fun car.

Its really hard to find fault with this one looking at the photos I must admit.
It seems very well done and detailed and the quality and fit of all of it just looks awesome.
These are not cheap cars to restore and build and knowing the cost of that sort of stuff really
put this car into perspective as being one heck of a buy for the asking price!
Someone is gonna score!
