WW2 VW Schwimmwagen For Sale

This spectacular restored Schwimmwagen
rolled off the assembly line in December of 1943 and
was put into service early in 1944.

The car made its way to the US at some point and has been restored
by Dave Crompton, perhaps one of the best WW2 VW restorers.
In 2014 the car made its way to the UK and has been in an impressive
collection near London since then. It remains in excellent condition.

The amphibious Schwimmwagen is a fascinating machine.
Not only does it swim, it also features four wheel drive.

This one has not been put through its paces off road or in the water,
it has remained as a showpiece and a prized part of the private collection.

Very nicely done with an eye for authenticity.

Such a wild ride these are!
Definitely not something for the daily commute, they are pretty slow and uncomfortable
but it will most definitely draw a crowd wherever it goes.

The fold down propeller on the back.
Dropped down manually, it meshes up with a drive gear directly off the back of the engine
and away you go! When coming back on shore it must be pulled up with a rod by a passenger in the rear.

Seating is basic at best, but creature comforts are not as important when deep in battle.

No doors of course, so climbing in is fun, especially with the top up.

Minimal instrumentation and basic controls

Choke lever down by the base of the shifter.
Nice to see the correct details in place like the tool box under the dash
and the dimpled shift knobs.

Shovels and oars included!!

All powered by the mighty 25 horsepower aircooled VW engine!

The car is well documented and comes with full history
and photos of the restoration. The car is located in England
and the seller is willing to assist however possible with shipping
(at buyers expense obviously)
More photos and details available to serious parties.
