1972 VW Fridolin For Sale

One of the coolest and rarest VW models out there is the Type 147
or "Fridolin". This Type 1 based car was designed for postal use in Europe
and it has a bit of everything that was going on at VW at the time in its design.

The VW Bus-ish rear end, the almost Type 3-ish front end
and of course the chassis of the Type 1 ,,, it really is a mix of it all.

The sliding side doors and opening rear hatch are awesome.

This particular example has been customized in many ways to include even more of the best of VW
including semaphore turn signals in the front quarter panels.

The bumpers too are custom with the profile and design of the pre 59 VW Bus

Lowered stance and detailed Mahle wheels color matched to the body
which was painted Mango green, and Seagull Grey an early VW Bus color combination.

The interior is gorgeous with well fit German square weave carpets and a custom rear seat.
Upholstered in the caramel brown color that would be found in a VW Bus painted in the Mango color combo.

The passenger side front seat folds forward and tucks under the dash
for loading access for cargo.

The clean and simple dash .
Locking steering column, three spoke standard steering wheel and more.

Very clean and simple interior is very well finished.

So cool!

Fog lamps are a nice addition.

It has been featured in multiple magazines and has won top awards whenever shown.

to the cosmetics, the louvers were reversed. Beautifully done modification that most folks would never catch.

The color matched alloy wheels are beautifully detailed.

Westfalia body tag...yes Westfalia built the Fridolin bodies!

Dome light works!

Engine room detailing is superb.
Even on the back side the swap of direction to the louvers is very well finished.

Powder coated engine tins, wild belt and pulley for the supercharger.

and has always remained covered and out of the weather.
It remains show-ready and is prepped to impress.

Front turn signals were shaved for a cleaner look and the fog lights are wired for flashers.
The custom touches go on and on with this car and it truly is a show stopper.
With less than 200 of these cars known to exist worldwide it is something that you
will have a very hard time finding its equal. Beyond rare and incredibly well done
this one will be the pride of any collection.
