\1968 VW Single Cab Transporter For Sale

This beauty comes to us from Washington State.
First year Bay Window Single Cab with all the trimmings.

I love the blend of stock original with mild custom touches here that really transforms the truck into something
far more than the workhorse that it started out to be when it rolled off the assembly line.

This truck has a fun history that is known back to day one.
Sold new at Century Motor Sales in Alhambra in April 1968
to the owners of the "Sure Sleep Bedding Company" to add to their business
allowing for easy home delivery.  The single cab was the perfect choice
and in 1967 they bought their first truck, followed by this 68.
The trucks were sold along with the business in 1977.

In the late 1980's it ended up in Washington State where
a VW enthusiast there who over the next handful of years it was
transformed from work horse to play toy.
The truck was originally white and in the 90's was painted Savannah Beige that you see here today.

Pinstriping was done by Roy Dunn, a local artist of many years and it looks fantastic.

In the 90's it was converted to later model disc brakes and the smaller 5 lug wheels
but during its current ownership steps have been made to both improve the braking system
and bring the looks back closer to original. On the front it has been fitted with drop spindles
and Wilwood disc brakes with the wide 5 pattern allowing for the stock 14" steel wheels to be installed.

Out back wheel adapters have been installed to allow the wide 5 wheels to return.
Excellent tires on all four corners and nice shiny hubcaps.

The custom brown canopy is super cool and unique.
Built two inches lower than the factory height, which allows
for easy storage in most every garage.

The pinstriping is beautifully done.
Deluxe style bumper trims are also a very classy touch.

Out back is a super smooth running 1600cc single port engine that
the owner was told was the original, but this has not been documented.
All systems are go with this truck, it runs great, shifts and steers as it should
and is ready for the road.

The underside looks all original and super solid.

The odometer on the truck reads just 69k miles...could that be the original?

I love the custom wood slat roof rack and the brown canopy is fantastic!!

Wood slats on the bed and everything looks super clean.
While the paint and restoration on this truck was done many years ago, it has held up remarkably well thanks to proper care.
There are a few chips and scratches here and there, it is not flawless, but as you can see in these images
it is still a stunner. Really an attractive truck.

So clean and so cool!

The interior is mostly stock with minor fun add-ons like the coco mats and parcel tray under the dash.
The cooler console in the center of the seat is a nice accessory as well,
holding a 6 pack of your faves as well as cup holders off the front.

The floors are super solid and clean

Very solid example.

Door panels and interior material in good shape and a great color choice
to go with the Savannah Beige paint color.

Nice clean dash, leather wrapped steering wheel, hula girl...perfect.

Very clean headliner

One paint bubble on the passenger side door. The bubble has been there for years and has not expanded
and is in an odd spot for any rust to be behind, so it must be something else.
The rest of the body and paint looks great with no such issues.

Treasure chest area has been well restored and is kept tidy.

Matching folding chairs, crates and rug are included in the sale.

So cool!

Original owners manual and pouch and even the business card from the original owner!

Very clean and very fun.
I really dig this one.
