This little 59 Beetle is located in Kansas and it is a running, driving car that is ready for a restoration
and a new chapter in it's life.  It is overall a very straight and solid example and it has
some fun special details that hint to it's past such as semaphore turn signals and some pretty rare turn lights on the front fenders.

Its hard to know that the "real" history is of this car, but it was probably a grey market car that was brought in from Europe
by an independant importer, which was happening quite a bit in the late 50's and early 60's when VW dealers in the US
had a hard time keeping up with demand.

The car has the US style bumpers on it with the "towel rail" overriders, but other hints
make me think those may have been added after the factory.

Looking underneath it, it is surprisingly solid for being a Kansas car.

Looks good and solid in here.

Carpet is obviously gone...the whole interior really needs to be done.
This is a great "base car" as I call them...perfect basis to build your dreams from.

Just a little bit of rust poking through just under the battery...that seems to be the worst of it looking at the photos.
(and obviously it is really minimal)

Rest of the chassis looks great

Even looks good in the fenderwells

12 volt electrics

Body is overall quite straight.

Note that the car is wet in these images...the paint finish is not this glossy.

A fair few small dings here and there.

Proper taillights

Back side of the dash looks great...obviously there has never been a radio installed as you can see the block off plate.

Dual port 1600cc engine out back with 12 volt electrics, etc.
Good runner.

Check out the crazy big lense turn signals!  Compare these lenses to another 59 out there...you will see that they are quite different.

The hood has a sizable crack just forward of the hood prop.
This sort of thing happens over time.

Certainly repairable...and it does appear to be the original hood.

The front seats are from a later model and have the tall back rest.
They are mounted to the stock seat rails, so swapping back to the originals will be a breeze.

Dashboard looks to be original paint and is in excellent un-altered shape.

Original door panels are hanging in there...

Luggage area looks solid.

Bumpers look to be original German

Body tag

Correct hood crest is here as well as all the standard trim bits.

The semaphore turn signals are AWESOME!
Not currently hooked up as the car has been swapped to 12 volts, but they are present and complete and original to the car.

A very good start for someone

This is a good old Beetle that has survived the ages pretty well...very straight and solid and pretty much stock.
Its a runner and driver as it is, or would be a dreamy basis to build your dream machine from.
