This sweet black Ghia Convertible comes to us from Kentucky.
The owner of the car has completely restored it from pretty much the ground up.
Body stripped to bare metal on a rotisserie, new everything on the build back up.
It is a very attractive car.

The car was built late in 69, so the owner is calling it a 69 and a half.
One of the last of the early taillight cars.

The car is a factory Auto Stick car which is really quite rare.
This is VW's three speed, clutch-less, stick shift.
If you want the looks of the classic VW but dont want a manual trans...this is your dream car.

Great looks, the Ghia body in black is really a wonderful thing to stare at...the lines are so nice.

The interior in this car is really gorgeous, full custom, very classy and tasteful
I really love the way this looks!

The owner has all the receipts for the work done...and it was a LOT of work
and a LOT of money to get the car to this level.
He did the painful part...paying for it and waiting for it to be done...it is a challenge.
But the buyer is going to reap the benefits...just buy the car and enjoy the drive!

The bumpers are the high end stainless steel versions from Harrington.
They look awesome and will always look awesome.
The top features the glass back window which is a great thing...it un-latches at the top and folds down
so you can get a sweet breeze through the car with the top up, and it also means that you dont have the plastic
window that is so easily scratched and fades in the sun.

The top is all new, all the window rubber and body seals have been replaced.

Nice looking car indeed.

The chrome wheels against the black body are a great choice.

So pretty.

All the details have been attended to and all the trim and parts are in excellent shape.

Under the front bumper is clean...you can see the shiny new hardware and things like that...well detailed.

The nose is excellent.

Door handles are clean and lock with the original key.

Mirror looks great...here you can see some of the new rubber.

Under the hood the wiring harness is all new.

Clean in here, surfaces coated with a durable truck bed liner type coating.

The chassis of the car has also been sprayed with the same durable finish.
Everything is very very solid under here.

The back sections of the floor pans have been replaced but the repair was done very well, very solid and well sealed
but you obviously can see the edge where the metal was seamed and welded together.

Under the engine is clean and dry, the paint finish on the exhaust has burned off as they do, but it is all in very nice shape under here.

Here is a better shot to show how dry and clean it is under the engine.

Under the trans is dry too.

Another angle from below.

The Karmann body badge

There is a scratch on the drivers side door window from rubbing on something inside the door.
You can see it here right in the center of the glass.

A quick peek through the window...that dash sure looks nice...but more on that in a moment

Fenderwells are solid

Under the engine lid looks great

The engine room has been coated with the same durable finish.

The engine runs fantastic and is overall quite clean.
The filler cap and canister are for the automatic trans.
I will go into the mechanical stuff a little further down the page.

Kentucky plates and title.

The Karmann Ghia script on the back.

Nice level of detail wherever you look.
This was not a quickie restoration.

Spare wheel and tire with cover tucked in the nose.

Modern audio system

Great shift knob ...I like seeing the protective mats on the floor to keep the carpets clean...obviously a well cared for car.

Custom matching vinyl boots for the shifter and handbrake.

Visors also done to match.

Dash pad is original and is in fantastic shape.

A couple of marks on the original steering wheel,
check out the trick speaker mounting.

Door jams are clean

Custom window cranks

Matching top boot

Body is very straight and smooth and paint quality is really nice.

Woodgrain on the dash is new and looks perfect.

Nice carpet trunk liner

OK...the engine is a very strong running 1600cc dual port.
12 volt with alternator. This engine has the short fan shroud off a VW Thing.

The engine was fully serviced and checked out  and re-sealed and it runs fantastic.
Transmission shofts properly and it is a pleasure to drive.
Steeing and brakes are also excellent.

Lots of beauty shots of this one from the seller.

The Autostick emblem is in great shape.
I have always loved the font of the "Stickshift" on these emblems.

Chrome wheels are in excellent shape, tires are very good.
The car only has about 3000 miles on it since the completion of the restoration.

Great interior.

Love the fit of the back seat, the speaker install and the matching top boot.

Retractable seat belts up front.

Nice.

Classy, clean, slightly modern but it just looks so great.
I think the interior of this car is my favorite part...seeing it I want to be in it.

The seats are from Scat and are the Pro-car model. Ive had these seats before in cars and they are very comfortable.

The cupholder accessory slides into the ashtray hole on the dash...easy to take in and out.

The top is beautiful, done in stayfast canvas...very nice fit.

Door panels are cleanly stitched and fitted.

90k and change on the odometer.
Miles since completion of the restoration are about 3000.

Fire extinguisher mounted under the dash for safety.

Really like new in here.

Love the custom back seat.

Back seat folds down to make a nice spot for luggage or whatever.

Here you can see the top with the rear window open...

A couple more pics of the engine room.

In closing this looks like a very nice car.
Cleanly done, very solid, wonderful interior
