1967 VW Beetle Convertible For Sale

SOLD!

1967 was a very special year in Beetle production.
It is one of the only years of Beetle that is really unique especially for US destined models.
The 1500cc engine was introduced, 12 volt electrics, the upright headlights
in re-designed fenders, totally new shape for the engine lid, the second year for the ball joint front end
and the list goes on and on. In 1968 they changed things significantly again, getting rid of the
painted dashboard and the towel rail bumpers and that real "vintage" VW design was gone for good.

As a result the 67 has long been a favorite year for VW enthusiasts.
The last of the classic style, and the most refined when it comes to performance and handling.

This example is a very good one.
The car originated in California and it has been well treated.
This is not one that has been patched up and built from a pile of parts.
It is a car that has been well maintained and protected from the elements
and all of the original details remain.

The car has had some restoration work done over the years, the interior
has been redone, the carpet and top as well.
The paint has had some rework as well, but there is still a fair bit of the original finish remaining.

Most importantly and a very rare find today, the car is extremely solid and rust free
and appears to have never had any rust repair done.
Still the original floorpans and heater channels and all of them rock solid.
When you start looking close at old VW convertibles out there on the market today, you will realize how rare this is to find!

The original 1500cc engine is still in the car.
It has been cleaned and detailed and it runs very well,
The only upgrade I see here is the mechanical advance distributor, and the plastic fresh air hoses,
The rest seems very stock and proper.

The air cleaner is the correct dual snorkle model
and everything looks to be in place and well sorted.

The dashboard and interior paint is original and looks great.

The original style rubber mats are in place and the controls are clean.

The carpet was replaced at some point, but with a nice quality kit with the correct cloth bound edges.

The original 12 volt sticker in the door jam.
12 volt electrics was a fantastic upgrade...anyone that has dealt with a 6 volt system
will agree that 12 volt works better...in fact there are probably more earlier 6 volt model cars
out there that have been converted to 12v than ones that have not!

The 1967 model has a special window crank...check out the black plastic knob.
On a convertible, there are 4 of them, as the rear windows roll down too!

The convertible models came with a locking glove box door from the factory.
This one has a nifty little pull tab accessory fitted that helps with opening it.

The dash knobs too are special for 67!

The odometer reads 39,000 miles.
We looked into this deeply as there was some thought of this being the original miles on the car.
What we found is that the speedometer was changed at some point in the past, so the actual miles on the car are unknown.

The steering wheel and horn ring are in nice shape and are correct original parts.
The radio is a quite rare AM/FM model.

This is an earlier in 67 production model as it has the low back front seats.
The later 67's got the highback seat that continued on to the end of production.
The cool lowback seats being another classic attribute lost as time went on.

The car is not showroom perfect, it shows a little wear and history
but it still presents itself very well.

Door pocket

The armrest looks to have been refinished a bit...they tend to yellow a bit with age
and there is normally a chrome like trim across the center.
A minor detail but an improvement that makes it look much cleaner.

In good shape!

The wheels are the correct slotted wide 5 units that were only used in 1966 and 67.
The car has the correct flat style hubcaps and trim rings
and the tires are Michelin radials with very good tread.

The top was redone at some point and it is in good condition.

I have not looked up the engine number to verify that it is the original one to the car
but it is the proper "H" prefix serial number that is correct for 67.

The 67 model elngine lid is unique to the year and the convertible model
had its very own version...this one is complete and correct with the proper rain tray in place.

The rear apron is also unique to 67.

The bumpers on this car are the correct original German parts that are even the right date code for the car!!
Yes...original bumpers are date coded...did you know that?
It is little details like this that stand out to me as a real hardcore VW nutcase...really rare to see this!

Here is a detail of the stamp

The body is very straight and solid on the car and the proper handles and trim are all in place.

Gravel guards on front and rear fenders.

The correct Karmann body badge

Front end is super straight and panel fit is proper.

Nice car

Top looks good.
Correct glass rear window with the rubber seal with the aluminum trim in it.

The car looks simply fabulous here in the showroom photos.
Up close it still looks very nice but there are few chips and scratches and minor wear.
This is not a fresh restoration, but a well maintained and kept driver.
Its has been used and driven and shows some age.
Under close scrutiny you can see the paint touch ups, overspray in the door jams, etc.
It is still nice enough to have pride in, but not so nice that you would be afraid to use it.
If it is a "perfect finish" you are after...it is not that.

The body of the car is super super straight and there are no signs of collision damage
of any serious nature, same goes for any rust...this one is as solid as they come!

Nice color combination

Car sits right...totally stock.

Nice

Some more interior shots...notice the accessory scuff guard in the bottom left of the photo.

Dash looks great

Seats are holding up well

LOVE that original Blaupunkt radio!

Under the front hood is all original finish and the original wiring cover and trunk liner are intact and in
good shape. Original Continental thin whitewall spare tire.

Put you and your family in these seats and go make some memories!

We have a good friend that went and drove this car on a test ride and
he was impressed with how tight it was on the road and what a wonderful driver it is.
It "feels" like a low mileage car on the road.
Really a delightful driver.

Obviously it has a decent shine!
It looks flawless in the pics here...but dont let that fool you.
It is in good shape for sure but get it out in the sun and look super close
and you can see that it is an older paint job with expected wear and age.

Smooth reflections down the sides.

Matching top boot included.

In closing this is a nice car.
Firstly and most important it is as solid and straight as they come.
No wrecks, no rust, it is a good car and always has been one.
It has had things replaced and redone as time past as needed, but it has
always been together and that is a pretty rare thing to find these days.
It is a turn key driver, ready to hop in and enjoy.
