1965 VW Beetle Sedan For Sale

When you have been running a website this for as long as we have, eventually a few cars that have sold
years ago come back for another pass. This 1966 Beetle is one of those...but boy does it look different
now than it did back then!

In 2005 we listed a faded but very original white 66 Beetle with a red interior
for a local owner and friend. It was a classic black plate untouched original California car
but it was maybe not quite nice enough at the time for preservation, but it was a perfect dreamy
base car to restore and build a dream machine from.

The car shipped off to Ohio and its new owners wasted no time in diving into a full
body off restoration with plans of making a super clean and very unique ride out of it.
Looking at the photos now, they certainly accomplished that task.

Every nut and bolt was removed and the car was taken down to an absolute hollow shell.
The body was media blasted to bare metal and the floor pan was stripped, blasted and powder coated.

By the looks of things the only item that was not restored was the factory jack and the washer bottle.
Everything else was touched and restored.

The car retains all its original German sheet metal, no aftermarket fenders or panels ...its all the real deal

Interior was fully restored as well and still remains in very good condition.

The engine is a 1914cc the was purchased as a turn key motor from the legendary
Bernie Bergmann. Transmission is from KCR in California.
Four wheel disc brakes, rack and pinion steering conversion, these folks went all the way.

Level of detail and attention to proper finishes and fit is very good on this car.

The underside remains clean and presentable and doesnt appear to be
a leaker or a mess maker. All very high quality parts.

The interior remains very stock in overall appearance, clean with minimal wear from use.

The chassis still shines bright and is rock solid and rust free.

Many nice additions and subtle details.
Pop out quarter windows, nicely fitted speaker box behind the back seat.

The car rides on amazing 17" smoothie wheels from Airkewld that were powder coated to match the sides.

I love the way this car sits...super cool.

Dash is stock, clean and un-cut
Radio is a Retro Sound unit that fits in the dash without modification
and provides modern audio and connections.

Headliner looks clean and well installed

Stock steering wheel and horn ring.

A couple of paint chips on the rear seat support bar.

Engine features chrome tins, dual carbs, hex bar linkage and many other details.
It shows well and runs strong.

Door panels and seat covers were purchased from Mid America Motorworks
and retain that classic factory look, but just a bit cleaner in design.

All new factory style wiring harness.

The aluminum fuel tank is beautifully done!

Front apron still looking clean and straight.
Nobody has "curbed" it and its not hammered from road debris.

Front beam is narrowed and adjustable

The original 1300 emblem remains on the lid...a 66 only detail.

Paint is holding up well and has a great shine to it.
It is not flawless, a few small chips here and there from use, but still super clean and show worthy.

Here is a shot of the rack and pinion steering conversion.
This was adapted from a VW Polo and is beautifully installed and works fabulous.

Fender wells have been undercoated

Chassis still shining bright thanks to the durable powder coating process.
Rear disc brakes are clearly visible in this shot.

The drivers side seat has a small flaw thanks to a protruding hog ring from the installation of the covers.
The owner has new seat covers on order currently but they are on back order and he is being told they will ship in July.

Love love love those wheels!!

Here is a close up of the hog ring damage to the seat.
Fortunately for the moment the seat back hides the majority of the damage
so it doesnt really stand out...but its there.

Man that's a cool set up!

Chrome looks great

Rubber all around the car in very good condition.

Here at the top of the door near the window trim, there are a couple of small paint blisters.

So clean!

Dynamat sound deadener on the fire wall.

The seller sent us SOOO many images, but I think its important to show as much as possible
so Im just posting them all so you can see what the car is all about.

There is a small paint chip on the hood that you can just make out in this pic.

Whew! Thanks for sticking through all these pics and finding the bottom of the page!
I hope I have shown and conveyed just how nice this car is and shown all the special details
that have been put into this car. Its no normal average Beetle for sure, this one is pretty special!
