1980 Puma GTC For Sale

This beautifully restored 1980 Puma GTC is located in Southern California in the hands of
a loving owner that has really put a lot of time, money and effort into making this car
as nice as it can be. Many updates and improvements and all resulting in a very nice quality machine.

This is Puma body #17518 built in 1980.
It has approximately 19000 miles on the car and only 7000 miles on the current engine.

Beautifully trimmed and detailed and all the Puma logo touches really add to the overall look.

Interior was totally redone and featured heated leather seats, German carpets, new door panels and all seals.
under dash stereo and folding cup holders. An additional heater vent for the passenger foot well
and a whole lot more.

Fuel tank was replaced with a custom made larger capacity aluminum unit that
extends range between fill ups significantly.

The car has been shown at local events and always draws an admiring crowd.
Being such an uncommon model here in the US, this is always a conversation piece!

The paint is very nice quality and is done in a Mercedes Silver (code 744-DB744)
and it looks fantastic on the car. Personalized plates are the perfect ones for the car
and if it stays within California , these can remain registered to it.
The car has a clean title and current registration in the owners name,
The best part for California buyers is that it is smog exempt!

Here is the original Puma body tag.
For those new to the Puma, these cars were designed and constructed in Sao Paulo Brazil
and built as complete turn-key automobiles for most markets around the world.
In the US, some were brought into the states without the engine installed so that they
could be imported as "parts" and then be "assembled" here and titled as a "special construction" automobile.
While this practice was done clearly to slip through an importation loop hole , it developed
a misconception about the Puma being a "kit car", when in fact it was truly a production built automobile.
I have personally experienced a couple of these cars and spent a fair bit of time with them
and the quality is very very nice. Fun cars to drive too!

Here is a better shot of the large capacity fuel tank.

All the Puma logos and emblems are present and the condition of everything is excellent.
Very well restored and well kept.

The convertible top is excellent and fits and functions great.

The frame was fully restored, the metal parts powder coated
and all the fabric and rubber parts replaced .

Excellent fit and the rear window is clear and scratch-free.

Audio system has a remote control seen here in the console.
The cup holders are a nice functional addition.
Excellent carpets and protected by heavy rubber mats.

The leather seats are beautiful and they are fitted with heaters for those cold mornings.

The wheels are the factory Puma alloys and they are in excellent shape.
The cooling scoop on the rear cowl is an added detail that is cleanly done and fully functional.

Matching top boot is a nice detail as well.

Lets take a peek under the engine lid now and see what powers this sports car!

Out back under the lid is a very nicely upgraded mild performance engine...so this thing really scoots!

1910cc is the displacement, a very nice boost over the factory 1600cc.

Dual Weber carburetors with K&N filters.
Additional oil cooler with electric fan tucked in the corner here.

Hex bar carb linkage, electric fuel pump, mechanical advance distributor.

12 volt alternator, aluminum oil breather/filler
Interstate battery.
Dyna Flow exhaust system with ungraded headers and heater boxes.

Note the shape of the fan shroud here...this is flat across the top similar to the shroud
used on the VW Thing, but this is factory for the Puma and also for the VW Brasilia on which the Puma is based.
Only about 7000 miles on this engine since being rebuilt, and the transmission has been ungraded
as well to "freeway flyer" gearing with a taller fourth gear for keeping up on the fast paced highways of today.
The engine has received regular maintenance and uses Valvoline VR1 oil exclusively for its high zinc content.

Lighting has all been upgraded to LED other than the factory sealed beam headlights.

Always garaged

In closing this is a really nice example of a rare Puma GTC.
Well kept and cared for, lots of upgrades and small additions that really make it unique.
This is a fun and attractive sports car that will be a fun addition to any garage!
