1966 Beetle Sedan For Sale

Here is another sweet Beetle from a local event.
The owner has done a lot of work to the car and boy with that bright red paintwork it sure catches the eye.
Pretty much new everything when it comes to cosmetics. Not show car level as far as the details but with
the color combinaltion and the accessories I could sure see it pull in a trophy at smaller shows.

The car is a black plate California original, which is a big bonus to many.
There is somewhat of a mystique about a car that still has the black plates.
You Californians will of course know what Im talking about but for those out of state,
the main thing is that when you see black plates on a vehicle here in California that can almost guarantee that the
car has been here in California since new (that is if the car is a 63-74 model).

The paint is recent, the rubber and trim is all new, the wide whitewall tires are new as well
and basically end to end it's been cosmetically restored and it has a very fresh and clean appearance.

The paintwork is very smooth, nicely done, not a quickie respray.
New bumpers and running coards, new window scrapers and felts, cool curb feelers and jack plugs.

Amber topped taillight lenses add a little more color to the back.
Correct 1300 emblem on the decklid (a 1 year only thing by the way)
Note the "cheese grater" tail pipe trim under the bumper.

Very stock and proper 1300 engine under the hood.
Recent carburator and coil, still 6 volt electrics.
Unknown mileage on the engine but it does seem to run very nicely.
I was able to take it for a short test drive personally, but not at speed.
The owner states that it is a very good runner and driver and is quite reliable.
And judging by the looks of things and my short cruise I tend to agree with him.

Current registration and a clean clear California title.

Nice and straight down the sides.
Good fit and finish to everything. The car is well done.
On a scale of 1-10 I would give it an easy 8. (and Im being a picky butt...cause that's what I do)

The interior is super clean and the white seats and panels look fantastic with the red paintwork.

Seats are in excellent shape.

Back seat as well...very fresh looking indeed.

Nicely fit headliner.

Factory sunroof car!!
Unfortunately it feels like the cables that operate the sunroof are worn as the handle just skips when you turn it.
Fortunately replacement parts are available through several parts sources and Im sure this could be repaired.

Nice clean steering wheel with the proper chrome horn ring.

Car was painted inside and out, so the paint on the dash and door jams is all fresh as well.
Odometer reads 81,884 miles.
Actual mileage is unknown.
Small crack on the steering wheel visable here in this photo.

Original Sapphire III radio.
There is an extra switch in the dash under the radio...Im guessing this may have been a volume control for a rear speaker.
Cigarette lighter knob is incorrect...

Cool accessory glove box pull.

Nice stack of receipts for service...car looks to have been well maintained.

Nice and clean in the door jams.
Dome light switch is missing, but I like to see when restorers replace the screw caps and check rod seals.
Nice carpet too by the way.

Nice clean door striker...good attention to detail.

She's a pretty one!

under the hood is pretty basic but clean.
Slipping in a new trunk liner would make it look even better.
Spare wheel is a correct 66 wheel, however the wheels on the car are 65 or older.

Wiring looks pretty clean.

Nice original jack and tool roll.

Hood latch has been replaced, front apron looks good.

Very straight and proper in the spare tire well.

Looks good to me!
I guess I could pick apart something here though...the access plates here should be painted black...
But Im sure that doesnt matter to anyone but me.

Hood handle trim is another nice accessory.

Roof rack has been painted off white which really looks great on the car.
It brings out the color of the interior a bit and with the contrast of the wood finish it really looks nice.
These are almost always silver in color, so it's a cool little touch.

I liked it so much....here's another photo of it.

Glass is excellent as are all the window rubbers.

Passenger side door doesnt quite close super tight...the gap is off just a little.
In my opinion it's an adjustment issue with the striker plate...not a big deal, but I didnt have a screwdriver
with me or I would have just fixed it myself on the spot.

Drivers side door frame just at the body line there is the classic 66 crack.
There is something about the 65-57 Beetles that must be weak from the factory here.
Its just a little stress crack from closing the door a million times. Not a structural issue by any means

Passenger side rear fender there is a paint crack where a stone must have been kicked up by the tire...bummer!

There is a little weak spot at the leading edge of the battery tray, but that's it...the rest of the car appears to be very solid and untouched.
This should probably be sealed and treated at the least, or for a couple hundred bucks the section could be replaced.

Drivers side floor pan is excellent.

A little average grunge under the engine but overall not bad.
Wheels were powder coated by the way...so thats a nice hard finish inside and out."
The tires are new too...and they are radials so they handle better than the big wide white bias ply tires
some folks chose.

OK...so there we have it.
Its a very nice clean and pretty car with no big issues and tons of curb appeal.
Since I havent had a chance to take it for the usual long test drive, I will make sure to complete a full inspection
prior to delivery if desired. My initial inspection shows it to be a nice clean car and it sure did seem to run fine.
