1965 VW Type 3 Notchback For Sale
This 1965 Notchback is an all original unrestored example that has spent its life in Sweden.
It was imported to the US by a collector and is currently located in Texas.
The attractive part of this car to me is just how untouched it is,
and the details throughout that hint to its life in Sweden are super cool.
The down side of the car is that it need significant rust repair as well as
mechanical work from end to end to really be a driver.
I think some well thought out detailing could really bring the car to life
cosmetically and with a careful approach to the rust repair
things could be blended in and the original vibe of the car could be retained.
The original engine is fully intact and untouched.
This is an "S" model by the looks of it with the dual carbs, etc.
The engine is currently frozen and will not turn.
Under the front hood is super original as well and a rare factory gas heater is in place
Great stickers and details remain in place
The original owner, Tor Persson.
Gotta love that!
Very straight in the nose
All the gas heater stuff is hooked up and complete.
Interior is all original as well and has some great details
Under these odd Swedish seatcovers, the original cloth upholstery remains
Headliner still intact
Check this out!
These seat covers must have been installed when the car was new to protect that original upholstery!
Rear seat is original with minimal staining
Even the drivers seat looks good
Deluxe door panels with full length armrests
Original keys with a cool leather Gulf key fob
Dash pad looks surprisingly good
Here is where the work is needed...some very rusty floors and rocker panels on this car
Some shine remaining to the original paint as visible on the door
All the correct emblems in place
Registration disc from 1973
"The Volkswagen 1500. Outstanding in its field!"
Complete tool roll
That paint will buff!
Block heater plug
96k kilometers
Its a project but it certainly has some big upsides to it.
I love the history and the details that come with it.
The car has a cool vibe to it, just needs revival and rust repair.
Im not sure I could bring myself to do a complete restoration, the originality is just too cool.
In any case...all the good and bad of it are on display here for you to see.
Not a weekend project, this one will take some work...but what a cool ride it will be when done.
