1962 VW Bus For Sale
the turquoise and white color combo is perhaps one of the best of the
era
and the quality of this one is quite nice.
Its not over the top "uber show car" but it certainly holds it's
own at any event.
The lowered stance, the chrome wheels, the chrome full length roof
rack,
all of it adds up to one sweet ride.
Ok...so it's not the full tilt big daddy 23 window Microbus...but with
those selling for well over double the price of this Bus
these days, it pays to think about the other models... look how pretty
this Bus is...do you really want to spend
25 grand more for one with a hole in the roof??
The Bus has "the look" and with the safari front windows and
that big rack...it will get respect wherever it goes.
Located in Texas, this is a nice dry and solid example too...not
something
patched together
from a rusty bucket like many on the market today.
The pop out windows all have the long early style latches which kick
them
way out.
The polished side step helps accentuate just how low the Bus is ( I
would
suggest pulling it off for long drives...)
The chrome 5 spoke wheels and good rubber on all four corners.
Banjo steering wheel adds some serious class and the custom
instrumentation
including the speedometer and fuel gauge
add a little street rod flair.
Very clean dash, slick custom shifter...
Interior is clean and low key.
Everything was kept simple and neutral inside in varying tones of white
and cream.
Divider wall is done in black with a nice hand shaped wood shelf along
the top.
Floors under the mats are very solid, looks like some very minor
patching,
but done well...just a hint of surface rust starting
but no noteable rust or weakening of the metal.
Under the rear mat is the same story...looks pretty solid.
Underneath things are untouched and original...a little surface rust
but
everything appears very solid.
Pretty good under here...in a dry state such as Texas or
California...rust
like this can stay this way almost forever.
In the wetter climates, I would suggest cleaning and treating this area
and then applying a good undercoat to protect it.
Dont be spooked by the surface rust here...there is no welding needed
on
this Bus.
2110cc engine with Dual Dellorto carbs, deep oil sump, 12 volt
alternator,
ceramic coated heater boxes and a performance exhaust.
Purrs like a kitten and is quite quick and reliable.
The transmission is a freeway flyer IRS conversion.
Front end is a narrowed beam by Franklin with disc brakes up front and
stock drums in back.
Dual batteries!
Not show detailed in here, but no grimey either.
The Bus was built to be a driver and it's a good one for that.
I like this shot...
This shot shows down the side of the Bus so you can see how straight it
is.
Full flaps open with the safari's and pop outs...a hurricane on wheels.
What a blast they are to drive like this on a warm summer day!
Great Bus...nice attitude and altitude to it !
The owner loves the Bus but is dreaming of a Double Cab VW truck and so
he has finally decided to put this beauty up on the market
and then go after the "dream machine". I think this Bus is a
dream machine just as it is...but everyone has a different dream.
If a Bus like this is your dream...now is your chance to make it a
reality
and roll in serious style.
