This beautiful custom 1957 Ragtop is more than just your average
"looker".
It is a beautifully restored car...body off, every nut and bolt
attended to.
It features a performance drivetrain, Porsche 356 brakes and a whole
host of other upgrades and special touches.
It has been feautured on the cover of Volksworld Magazine and has won
numourous awards.
The car is located in Arkansas, near Little Rock.
Much of the work on the car was done by the owner through his shop
NoH20.
Parts were sourced from a variety of vendors around the globe.
Wolfsburg crest., stainless body trim, excellent paint.
Spotless detailed chassis.
Every jewel has a flaw and I always like to point them out...small chip
in the paint here.
Another little paint flaw here in the gutter.
Wheels are BRM replicas that have been chrome plated.
The Porsche 356 A brakes with the big aluminum drums look great through
the wheel openings.
Great plate...the safety star and accessory stop light are nice fun
little additions.
Note the rear window blinds...another nice accessory.
Underside of the engine is super clean as well.
The transmission is a Gene Berg 5 speed unit!! Yes 5 speed!!
Interior was done locally by a shop in the area, but to original early
Beetle stitch patterns
and even the Split window style bolster pillows were made.
Rear window blinds.
These studio shots were taken for Volksworld magazine and it was
featured in the August 2010 issue!!
Remember.... "Safety Third" ( LOL)
Bamboo parcel tray, excellent speaker grille mounted tachometer.
Gene Berg shifter.
Very clean and well detailed car.
Door panels are a tasteful blend of tweed and vinyl. All window rubbers
and body seals are fresh.
Here is the cover shot!!
Sizable article too...
Photos of the build were included in the article.
The car was a serious job and they went truly over the top with it.
The body did start out as a hardtop, but with roof damage from people
standing on the shell
while it was in storage, the builder decided to replace the roof and
went with a sunroof clip.
The work of course was done to exacting standards and you would
probably never know by looking at it.
Great colors...beautiful car.
The Porsche brakes are a nice touch.
The A-1 muffler is an excellent choice...check out the custom traction
bar, the door sump, KYB shocks and more.
Custom narrowed front beam with shock towers.
Wiring is all new and cleanly sorted.
Foglights, Euro bumpers.
Very sanitary 2110cc engine with 44 Weber idf carburators.
The engine was a full bruild with top quality parts.
Engle cam, CB Performance heads, Sig Erson rockers, Demello crank...the
whole list is available upon request.
The owner estimates the output at 200hp (which I think is probably a
bit high)
but regardless of the final numbers it is a far cry from the orignal 36
horse!!!
Pretty.
These studio shots really give it that "drool factor"!!
Some build shots...the chassis during re-assembly.
Lights on.
During the build...front beam was changed after this shot to a narrower
unit.
Brakes going together.
Under the lights in the studio..
or out in the sun...it is gorgeous!
The car was included into the Foreign Creations car club...a high level
club in the US.
The owner even brought it out to California for the VW Classic and
displayed it at the DKP cruise
at Nicks Burgers where it received high praise.
In closing this is a very well done car with a long list of awards and
a magazine cover under it's belt.
It was also featured in Hot Vws back in 2004 with a different wheel and
tire combo!
If you want something that will draw a crowd and bring in the
trophies...this might just be the car for you!
