1971 VW "Tiki Bus" For Sale
SOLD!

This 1971 VW Bus has been professionally restored and converted into a truly awesome
party machine by a local So Cal VW mechanic and long time trader in surfboards and Hawaiiana.

The build was done several years ago now but the current owner has kept it indoors and properly
serviced and it still remains in stellar condition inside and out.

The bamboo and thatched roof are of course the focal point
but the awesome flower print interior and the very nicely done paint and body
make it obvious that this is a quality ride.

Incredibly fun!

Odometer reads 39k miles but there are far less than that since the restoration was completed.
Nice addition of a tachometer in the dash as well.

Mechanically the whole Bus was rebuilt and tuned and dialed in very well.
This 1600cc single port engine was built from a new engine case.
The builder of the engine, and the whole Bus actually has been a lifetime VW
mechanic that has all the right knowledge and skills to do the job right.

Storage area above the engine is fully umpholstered and lined with a sisal mat.

Nose emblem replaced with a carved Easter Island style Tiki head.
Chrome bumpers, excellent trim and body seals.

Hankook radial thin whitewall tires on color matched steel wheels
with chrome hubcaps and trim rings.

Upholstery is beautifully done in a Hawaiian hibiscus print
and is done in a very durable and easy to clean material.
Hop in with a wet bum and sand on your shorts...no problem, this is built for it.

Fantastic view from the back seats.
Walk through front seat formation is great too.

Excellent woodwork on the roof!
Also lined with the same durable upholstery fabric so in the event that you
do get caught in a little rain, it will not drip on your head.

Side door converted to a sideways opening rather than a slider.
Beautifully done.

This is a perfect vehicle for a business to advertise with.
A resort logo on the sides or market your beach themed biz...
no matter what is written on the flanks of this vessel, you can bet that all eyes will see it!!

The roof thatch is well done and surprisingly durable.
This is the same material used on exterior barbecue islands and tiki huts
that spend years in the sun, wind and rain.

I love the California plate "Bambooo"!
So fun!

Natural fiber sisal mats throughout.
Color matched seat belts, wooden Tiki shift knob.

Just fantastic fun!

Dash features a full array of instruments under the modern audio system

Underneath the Bus the chassis is very solid and sound.

Structurally it appears excellent underneath

Wooden surfboard mirror is also a cool touch.

The seller noted one paint chip on the door near the mirror

Ening and trans appear clean and dry underneath

Being based on what many feel is the "Best of the Bays", the 1971 model
is the first for factory front disc brakes and the final year for the reliable
single carburetor upright 1600cc that is the easiest and most economical of
the air cooled VW engines to service and maintain.

In closing I struggle to think of any VW Bus that we have ever offered
on the website that would be as much fun as this one looks.
Pile the family and friends on in and it is a rolling party wherever you go.
