1956 Beetle Ragtop For Sale
Here is a fun one for you all!
This is an extremely sweet Oval Ragtop Cal Looker that is owned by
actor/comedian Tim Allen.
We were involved with the build on this one here at Oldbug and it is something
Ive always been proud of. Tim wanted to re-live some old memories
and get a Beetle again, but being the hardcore gearhead he is, it had to be
something special and something with some serious power.
The car was sourced out of Texas and came to California for a little light makeover.
That light makeover went way out of control and ended up being a full tilt build from top to bottom
and some of the most skilled hands in the So Cal VW scene got involved.
The car was completed nearing 10 years ago now but the car remains in absolutely stellar condition.
Only a couple minor changes since it was featured on the pages of Hot Vws Magazine
the car remains a truly show worthy machine.
The car has always been garage kept in a man cave dreamworld and maintenance has been kept up.
The car shows virtually no wear, it really still looks fresh.
Very classic Cal Look (or Resto Cal) with a subtle color, tasteful stance and a big motor out back.
The car Tim came across the country in to start his career in LA was a white Beetle
so the color was chosen as a tribute to that.

Even the keys are cool
Window rubber and all trimmings present as new.
Clean, simple, subtle, classic.
Down underneath it is all clean and very solid.
Not built to have mirrors underneath, but still sanitary and with many upgrades
to performance and handling.
Adjustable front beam, sway bar, quality shocks
Disc brakes up front
Pro built gearbox with mid mount and all the heavy duty innards.
Chassis is cleanly finished and mega solid.
Some nice details with hardware here and there.
Deep oil sump.
Inside is gorgeous red leather with off white piping.
German square weave carpets, all the cool details .
Dash is clean and unmodified.
Door jams are tidy, nice use of polished hardware and accessories.
Color combo is high class all the way.
Car has less than 400 miles on it since completion.

Desirable accessory dash mounted clock with matching material behind.
Carbon fiber series monster tach with shift light and a Gene Berg shifter.
Okrasa logo cruiser pedal.
Pop out quarter windows
Very nicely detailed latches and hardware
Under the hood is nicely finished as well.
Clean reinforcement of the edge to avoid the dreaded hood kink
that these early cars can get.
Cool custom panel in here to hide the back of the dash.
Finished fuel tank with polished fittings.

Headliner is well fit and still looks fresh.

Detailed Porsche wheels with graphite grey centers give a very clean and
serious look. I had these wheel on my personal Cal Looker at the time and Tim talked me out of them.
They still look cooler than a polished wheel in my opinion.
Smooth clean blade bumpers, bullet turn signals, Euro headlight lenses.
It just sits so "right". Low, but not slammed.
No crazy front end tuck or overly fat wheels out back.

Excellent rubber
Extremely tidy 2275cc engine with fuel injection.
Motor done by legendary Clyde Berg
Sweet aluminum breather box.
Polished 12 volt alternator, Serpentine belt system
Berg linkage, the list goes on and on.
The fuel injection is the most recent addition to the car.
Originally built with 48 Webers, the fulie set up was done by Berg
recently. Very reliable performance as well as a great look.
The car is very quick and runs fantastic.
In closing the car speaks for itself.
It was and remains a very sanitary high end build and it still looks as fresh today as the day
he took delivery 9+ years ago.
