1971 VW Super Beetle Sedan For Sale

This Michigan based 71 Super is a very attractive example
with the rare Auto Stick transmission and a long list of work done
to it.

The restoration was done some time ago but still shows very well.
Repainted in the original color, wheels painted to match.
Recent Coker wide whitewall tires fitted and topped off with a
classic wood slat roof rack.

The mileage on the car reads around 111k miles
The car was sold new in San Antonio Texas and obviously made its
way to the midwest at some point.

Always garaged and well kept by the current owner.
The underside looks quite solid and clean as well.

Quite a bit of mechanical work done to the car recently with
new brakes, new tires, new front sway bar, as well as a new
carburetor and fuel pump
as well as all new ignition parts.

The car also received all fresh fluids and a valve adjustment too.
It is ready to roll for a new owner.

1971 was the first full year for production of the Super Beetle.
The differences in the early Supers versus the standard models
were minimal.
The biggest change being the McPherson strut front suspension and
rounder front bodywork to
allow for that. In later years the windshield shape would curve,
the dashboard would change
and a whole long list of progressive refinements, but the early
Supers from 1971-72 were
very similar to their Standard model family members.

Here you can see the more curved front fender, and of course the
hood and front apron changed as well.

Rear fenders and rear bodywork remained identical to the Standard
model at this time.

Originally the wheels would have been painted silver I believe in
1971 but Ive gotta say the
color matched blue looks fantastic with the wide whitewalls.

New front sway bar and bushings installed up front.

Another difference in the layout of the front end of the Super
Beetle is the ability for the spare
wheel to lay flat in a recessed well under the carpet. This not
only provided some more protection
in the case of an accident, it also increased the capacity of the
front trunk quite a bit.

Interior of the car looks very clean and stock.
Nice to see the original data sticker still in the door jam

Steering wheel has been back dated to an early style in white.
Dashboard remains very stock and proper.

Stock door panels and armrests.

Clean door jams and thresholds

Door seals and body rubber look good

Clean running boards

Seats look to be in nice shape

Two pedals? In a VW?
Yes...this has the quite uncommon Auto Stick transmission!
This is basically a three speed stick without a clutch. Grabbing
the shifter actuates the "clutch"
for moving through the gears, and when at a stoplight, it acts as
an automatic transmission
disengaging things at idle and then getting it all back together
for go time when you get off the brake and hit the gas.

Original AM/FM radio remains in the dash.
