Herbie on Steroids...a truly wild V8 VW Beetle For Sale

God Bless America!
Only here would we be crazy enough to build a Hemi powered VW Beetle just to win a bet.
And that is exactly what the builder of this car did.
Making a bet with a buddy that he couldnt put a Hemi engine in a Beetle he went to work building a truly incredible
show stopping machine that became famous the world over.

On the cover of VW Trends back in 1994

Yup... could of had a V8?  Yes he did!

Full feature article on the build.

Here is another feature..

The parachute is gone now but the wheelie bars come with it.

Cool stuff!

Here is another feature of the car in a European publication

What did the Germans think of this?

The car has also been featured in a hard cover book.

This print out shows a lot of the specs.

And here is the car today, in storage in the builder's garage in Southern California.
The builder passed on and his widow is realizing that it really needs to get in the hands of someone that will
enjoy it.  The car is still in truly impressive condition and I have personally heard it fire up and run...and it sounds incredible.

Inside and out and even underneath it shows very well indeed.

The dash and controls are all fantastic...the seats and carpets are like new.
This car could easily be shown as is after a quick detail.

Paint quality is truly excellent and has aged fantastically.
Always garaged and kept out of the elements the car still looks fresh even though the work was done many years ago.

Racing buckets

An extra decklid (that originally had the parachute mounted to it).

The massive Chrysler Hemi is fitted so well into the front that there is even room to get around it.
The engineering and workmanship to make this all happen is very high quality.

Full roll cage

Custom nerf bars

Fantastically smooth body and paint

The drivers side rear tire is flat thanks to a vandal's knife...you can see the chunk taken out on the right.
(people can be real jerks...who would do such a thing?)
It will air up enough for moving the car in and out, but this tire will need replacement

Garaged and ready for it's next home.

What an amazing build.

Check out these fat meats out back!

The statement on the fuel tank says it all!!

Gorgeous metal work in the engine room

Fully detailed engine is a serious beast and runs on high octane fuel.
It fired right up during my inspection and sounded fantastic!
Email me for a short video of the start up.

Glass is excellent...the white window rubbers have yellowed a bit with age but will probably clean up.

Very well trimmed inside.

CRAZY!!

Suspension is still wonderfully clean and detailed.

This is full professional build stuff here...this is no hack job!

Exhaust is routed out under the running boards just forward of the rear wheels.

The running boards themselves are machined aluminum and are painted and polished to match the car.

Bottom side of the engine.

Graphics are very cleanly applied.

The car was originally built without the hood grille openings but additional air flow was need to keep it cool.
Mesh grilles that were painted to match were put behind these holes in some cases, but currently they remain open for a free flow
of cooling air...something that driving in the hot California desert seemed to require.

The car has a clean title and is registered to an assigned vin number by the state of California.

Fuel economy has been reduced a pinch compared to the stock 4 cylinder...

Front wheels look fantastic...disc brakes can be seen peeking out through the spokes.

Color matched taillight trims.

Fuel tank is fitted to the back.

Fantastic air brush and striping work.

So clean...and so Cool!

Full array of Auto Meter instruments

B&M Shifter

Custom pedals

Headliner and rool cage

Custom aluminum radiator with electric fans.

Damn...this is just crazy!

A round of applause and a tip of the hat to Vince for his crazy creation that was built to such a high level.
This boy was not messing around... as the saying says..."Go big or go home"...
Vince went big...very big!

Now lets see his creation live on and continue to entertain and amuse everyone who sees it.
We all know that is what he would have wanted.
