1965 Karmann Ghia For Sale

Here's a good little driver for someone.
Freshly rebuilt engine and trans, well sorted out and a nice mellow
mild custom look and feel to it.

Its not a show car, it was painted a number of years ago and it shows some chips and scratches,
but as you can see here in the photos it still looks very presentable and turns some heads on the highway.

The color is a dark metallic green that is not original to the car but it looks nice and seems to suit it well.
The bright chrome really stand out in contrast...it's a tasteful package.

Overall the car has a good straight body. The dark color isnt very forgiving, it shows everything.
No big suprises though...it looks like apretty decent machine underneath it all.

Good straight front end.
Chrome has some very slight aging to it but still shines bright.
Front bumper overriders were removed for a clean look and the holes filled with nice chrome buttons.

Pretty clean under the hood.
Brand new spare tire on a stock painted wheel.
Good rubber seals everywhere.

Here's the inside of the front nose. Looks like there has been some minimal bodywork done here
after a slight bump...but really well done...It looks like they worked it back in place quite well.

Original jack in the holder.
Tool roll stuffed behind it.

Other side.

Sorry for the crooked photo...wiring looks sound and everything seems to work fine.

Odd mount spot for the front plate...but there it is.
Nose looks great from the outside, the little ridge in the center is crisp and clean.

Out back it has the overriders in place.
The reverse lights have been removed and the holes plugged with a good chrome button.
Slightly larger tail pipes give it a little beefier sound.

Very clean engine compartment.
Freshly rebuilt 1776 cc engine with dual 40 Weber carbs.
The transmission was rebuilt at the same time and the whole package has just about 1000 miles on it since being done.

Here's the receipt for the engine work... a good bunch of money put into this one.

Nice and clean near the battery.

Engine runs strong and the car drives nice. The clutch is pretty stiff (must be a performance clutch)
the trans shifts smoothly, the brakes and steering are good. The car really gets up and boogies...and with slightly taller
gearing in the trans, it is a good highway car.

Very clean underneath too.
Heater is functional by the way.

Drivers side of the floor pan looks great.

Passenger side has a noteable dent and some repair area.

Here's a detail photo of the repair...looks a little questionable...I would suggest having this fixed properly.
Might cost a few hundred bucks at most but then the chassis is super solid.
Or just drive it as it is and keep an eye on it.

Here's a photo of the dent in the floor pan...not a big deal, but it's there.

I noticed a little blister in the rocker just above the jack hole.
Looks like it has had some minimal repair work done to the rockers.

Drivers side front fender well shot.

Drivers side rear fender wel shot...looks pretty sound.

Straight down the sides.
Not "flawless" but still very presentable.
I dont think it was a mega dollar paint job but it's acceptable to be sure for a driver.

The Karmann Ghia script...what a cool emblem eh?

Small ding in the bumper overrider tube.
Some slight fade to the chrome. Note the nice crome plug for the reverse light hole.

Excellent tires on nice chrome rims with new hubcaps.

Good reflection down the sides.

Sexy side view mirror.

A few paint chips on the door edge.
The top hinge on the drivers side door is a bit worn.
This is a common problem with Ghias, but in this case the owner already has a replacement hinge ready to install.
Just swap it out. Its not too horribly bad as it is right now though, the door opens and closes fine.
But the new hinge would be an improvement just the same.

Drivers side front fender well there is a little boo boo on the fender edge.

Some light scratches on the engine lid.

Good glass all the ay around and nice rubber seals.

Pretty nice looking ride dont you think?

Inside now...
Steering wheel has a few small chips, the horn works, so do all the other electricals.

Dash is pretty clean. Radio hole is blocked off.

Guages...the clock doesnt work, but I think that is it.
Odometer reads 51,700 miles...total mileage on the car is unknown, but the engine and trans have just been rebuilt
about 1000 miles ago.

Radio block off plate is a little unique.

Carpet is a little worn but still decent.
Area around the shifter is a little messy looking.

Seats are in nice shape but the velour material on the seating surface has faded in the sun.
The easy cheap way to fix this would be to re-spray them with a fabric spray.
The material will take to it well and then they would look nice and black again.
Or re-do the interior to your liking...interior kits are readily available.

Rear seat is done in vinyl. Carpet around the sides of the base of the seat is missing...looks a little messy.

Headliner looks fine.

No sun visors.

Mirror glass is de-laminating a little and there is a very small tear in the headliner material
just above the mirror on the right hand side.

Not too much heel wear or anything...a little dusty perhaps.

Door panels are in good shape. A full set of the interior chrme trim comes with the car so the holes
on the top edge of the door have the things to fill them...
Window scrapers looks fine.

Here's the top door hinge that could use replacing...its not wildly worn but it is getting there.
A new hinge is included.
New check rod sraps are in there but are not connected currently.

Another shot of the seats showing the fade.

Back outside shining in the California sunshine... looks cool.

In closing this is a good car. It shows a little wear but has obviously been cared for andwith all the mechinaical
rebuilding recently it should be set to provided a good long service to it's new owner.
A good car to either drive as is and enjoy or fix up little things over time and make it as nice as it can be.
No big issues, a lot of positives, and it's priced reasonably.
