1977 Porsche Carrera 3 Targa For Sale

SOLD!

This sweet 911 posted with us on Californiacar.com is not in California.
It belongs to one of our very good friends in England and its condition and rarity
are something I thought  our customers worldwide would appreciate.

The carrera3 (known as the wünderkindern) was made for 2 years only 76/77.
There were only 1132 made, and of that amount, a very scant few Right Hand Drive Targa's.
Most of these cars have been modified and dont have the original 3.0 ltr engine as this has.
The core of this engine  is what Porsche often used for racing in the 70's early 80's and in the 934's/5's at Lemans.
Its a free high revving engine and as quick as the 1973 carrera RS.

This car has been wonderfully restored and is an extremely solid example with no rust whatsoever.

The now extremely rare, the  Carrera 3.0 was introduced in September 1975 for the 1976 model year and production ran for just two years.
Fitted with the newly developed in 1976 - 3.0 litre K-Jetronic fuel injection 200 bhp engine,
the main improvement over the 2.7 model was that it had a far greater torque at 190 lb/ft at 4200 rpm
and the performance compared favorably to the RS with 0-60mph in just 5.7secs!

The Targa model was not a commonly ordered model in the UK due to the weather.
It seems there were far far more of these sold in North America and throughout mainland Europe.
So this car's configuration and options are truly uncommon.

The "ducktail" rear lid is not original to the car and was added by the owner to suit his preference.
The original rear lid was retained and will go with the car to it's new owner.

Really cool to see the right hand drive in a 911 for this California boy!
How fun would this car be to rip around Newport Beach in??

The quality of the restoration is excellent and it has a very factory proper look to it.

The seats have been re-trimmed in a tartan material...not the same shade as original but it came with a plaid insert when new.
The steering wheel is a nice prototipo unit with Porsche horn push and it ads some sportiness to the dash.

Very nice combination!

So cool!
Not something you normally see here in the US.

The seats and panels and dash and all are very clean.
The instruments all work properly and the car is a true delight to drive.

Love that seat!!

The Targa top is in excellent condition and it fits and seals properly.

Rear seat and back deck are very clean.

Door jams are spotless

Excellent

Note the period Blaupunkt tape deck and all the knobs and controls in place.

Nice.

Power windows.

Perfect spot for the kids...I sure remember squishing into the back seat of my fathers Porsche as a kid
It was pretty cool when I was young!

Window seals and glass are excellent.
I love the period World Champion decal in the window.

Bumpers are clean and well fit.
Lenses are very bright and in sweet shape.

The engine room is very clean indeed. Note the 5 blade fan which is an attribute seen on the 3.0 litre...the 3.2 had more blades.
The engine runs excellent and has received proper maintenance and is truly ready to run.

A slight scratch on the left side of the rollbar just above the engine.
Another very nice period decal in the window on this side.

Very good fit to the top.

Headlights are excellent and the optional washers are in place.

This is the proper RHD H4 lens with bulb type headlight, not the sealed beam we see here in the US.

The Carrera stripe

Correct and original wheels are nicely detailed.

A very clean example, a very rare car and something that will stand out in the crowd at the next Porsche event.
Car is located in England, world wide shipping is available.
