1953 VW Beetle Sedan For Sale

This little blue Beetle is a car with a lot of soul.
Its a pretty desirable one being produced in 1953, the first year for the Oval window.

The story of the car is that it is in the hands of the second owners since new.
It was purchased in 2001 from the original owner in the San Francisco Bay area.
The original owner was named Lois and she called the car "Baby".

The second owners were (and remain to be) true VW nuts.
The husband had some fun with some vintage rally upgrades such as
a Judson Supercharged 36hp engine, Porsche 356 brakes and wheels
as well as the fun rally stripe and some cool accessories.

After his passing the car remained with his wife and son and has remained garaged
and well kept in there current Arkansas home.

The Supercharged 36 horse engine was rebuilt and installed in the early 2000's and
has been driven a bit, but never abused.
Its an excellent runner and driver with a new battery in 2021 and new tires just this year.

The interior is reportedly original and is in impressive shape with all the right little details in place.

Luggage rails and seat back runners intact

Original carpet and headliner with some expected aging, but overall super good shape

German cloth interior

Correct early rear seat springs

Very very solid in the corners under the seat

Porsche 356 aluminum brakes and steel wheels.
New tires installed just this year

Seats have remained covered and protected...really beautiful condition.

The interior is so sweet..it must have been redone, but that is definitely early German
cloth...just beautiful

Nice look to it, certainly with its flaws and exterior age it is no show car
but it is a very honest original, no accident early Oval...and those are not easy to find.

All the proper tags are in place, chassis is original to the body.
The car comes with the birth certificate from VW that shows its production details
and numbers. November 1953 build in L35 Metallic Blue

Very solid in the door jams

Pop out windows are small logo original VW parts

Steering wheel shows some minor cracking

Cool red cruiser pedal accessory

Pull tab for the glove box

This awesome rubber blade fan was reportedly in the car from the original owner!

Glove box still has its fuzz

Correct early ignition switch

The 100,000 Kilometer badge was also on the car when purchased from the original owner

Vacuum gauge for the Judson Supercharger

Odometer detail

Porsche 356 A brakes all the way around!!

Currently has the "egg" taillights from US spec 1955 models, but a pair of the original
heart taillights can be negotiated for if desired.

Body is nice and straight overall.
Looks like one exterior repaint in the original color.

Stripe is done in vinyl, so it could be removed

Nice fit to the hood

Semaphore turn signals

Very solid and original car

Original factory inspection mark visible here

Some scratches here and there

Lots of small chips in the paint

Small ding on the hood

Doors line up nicely

Solid original chassis and pans

Minor age to the chrome

Rear apron is mis-matched in color

Locking engine lid handle

Love that Judson supercharger!!

Correct filter and oiler...its all here and it works great

Paint flaw details shows well by the seller.

Wolfsburg crest

Rear apron does have exhaust cut outs and I believe in 53 it should be straight across with a single tip
exhaust. Currently with the 36hp performance engine and an Abarth four tip exhaust, this all makes sense.

Love that power plant!! Heck yeah!

In closing this really looks like a nice honest original car
with tasteful period upgrades and a nice mild patina.
Great runner and driver as it is, or a dreamy basis to restore.
Two owners since new...pretty darn cool.
