Meyers Manx SR2 For Sale

This fun little machine is a Meyers Manx SR2.
Bruce Meyers, the designer/inventor of the Dune Buggy had an idea for a street car
in the late 60's, early 70's and the Manx SR was the result of that.
Its a car that is based on the VW floorpan, just like the Buggies
but has styling that is futuristic even today!

I spied this example at a local auto swap and was quite impressed with the condition of it.
Its not often you see these for sale and very rarely are they as clean as this one.

The whimsical shape makes you happy just looking at it, and with the ties to the Meyers Manx
they have been steadily rising in value as collectors grab them and stash them away for the future.
I truly belive that these cars are going to start their rise in the collector scene soon.
While there were many many different manufacturers of dune buggies, the genuine Manx cars
are getting tough to find... and having a car with the pedigree will be very very important.

This car has a very fresh appearance to it, clean and tidy in all respects.
It has the right color, the right wheels and the right badging and documentation.
And regardless of it's collectibility...it is an extremely fun car to drive around.

The gullwing doors are of course one of the coolest features in my opinion.

All the proper badging is present

Proper taillights and bumper guards.

Paint quality is quite nice.

SR2 Badges on the top

Great 70's era side view mirrors

The old school slotted aluminum wheels are period perfection
(although the center caps are incorrect)

The Manx hood badge

The frog-eyed look is so cool.

Nice and smooth down the sides, good fit to the doors which is uncommon.
Owner has a nice set of custom side curtains for the car which will go with the car when sold.

What a cool car!

The wood rim Grant GT wheel is beautiful.

Dash is very clean and proper.
Wild floormats add some snazzyness inside.

Bucket seats with the bumblebee stripes are awesome!

Instrumentation with yellow lettering matches amazingly well.
Check out the old school tape player in the dash ...this has now been replaced with a modern JVC CD player.

Being the SR2 model, this is one of the cars produced by Karma Coachworks.
Karma took over production from Meyers in about 1974 based on what I have seen.
The car is currently registered in California as a 2005 special construction vehicle
but emission testing is based on the year of the engine, which is 1967.
The car obviously was titled in Arizona at one point as it has the assigned vin number plate there.
Fortunately the tags are all here and the hard work has been done...the paperwork is all in order.

The removeable "targa" top

Very nice condition.

The 1600cc single port engine is very clean and runs excellent.
12 volt electrics, nice custom exhaust that sounds very proper for the look of the car.
Great runner and driver.

Not all greasy or dirty like many VW engines seem to be.
Really looks to be well maintained.

Battery is securely fitted.

Just a bit of road grime underneath, but overall pretty clean and dry for a car of this age.
IRS rear suspension is very nice (chassis dates to 69)

Floor pans look very solid

Front end is clean.
Front beam is height adjustable.

Under the flip front hood is a bit of storage space in the nose.

Fuel tank area is pretty clean.

"Beep beep!"

Here's an image of one of the original sales prochures that I found on the enthusiast website
http://www.manxsr.com
Lots of great information there on all the SR models

This is a copy of some sales literature on the SR2 including some very fun reviews from the automotive press.
(this image also from www.manxsr.com)

So...this is a pretty rare opportunity to grab a genuine Manx SR2 that is very clean and turn-key, ready to enjoy.

And the mark of quality is right on the hood!
